Program participants pictured at HPU’s Community Leadership Lunch and Learn event are, from left, Dr. Nate Penland, vice president for student experience; Dr. Shannon Sims, assistant professor of kinesiology and director of the SWELL program; Dr. Dale Meinecke, vice president for development; Professor James Wunderle Jr., assistant professor of psychology; Dr. Jill Heupel, associate vice president for academic affairs; Dr. Cory Hines, HPU president; and Megan Froese, HPU student.

Howard Payne University recently held the third installment of the Community Leadership Lunch and Learn series. The event featured presentations by Dr. Jill Heupel, associate vice president for academic affairs, and Professor James Wunderle Jr., assistant professor of psychology, as well as a meal catered by Sodexo.

This year’s program, titled “Wellness in the Workplace,” presented ways to increase healthy habits, both physically and mentally.

Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood was the title sponsor for the event. Other sponsors included 3M Brownwood, Ann Jones Real Estate, Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce, Citizens National Bank, Kohler Co., MCBank, Painter & Johnson Financial, Robnett Integra Insurance Agency, Smith & Sharpe Insurance, TexasBank, Texas Clean, Texas Goldstar Real Estate and Wendlee Broadcasting. Proceeds from the event directly benefit student scholarships at HPU.

Dr. Cory Hines, HPU president, expressed his enjoyment of the event and his appreciation of all who helped make the luncheon a success.

“Dr. Heupel and Professor Wunderle gave excellent presentations, and the event was a wonderful opportunity to share their expertise with our community,” said Dr. Hines. “I am especially appreciative of the generosity of Hendrick Medical Center Brownwood for serving as the title sponsor for the event. The support of all our sponsors greatly benefits our students through scholarship assistance, making this a valuable investment in the future.”

Details regarding the next Community Leadership Lunch and Learn event will be announced in summer 2023. To become a sponsor, please contact Jacob Rohrer, assistant to the president for special projects, at jrohrer@hputx.edu or 325-649-8010.
