Three Brownwood athletes are participating in the Texas showcase league this summer.

Seth Owen (a senior at Brownwood High School), Colton “Cojo” Guidry (BHS junior) and Carson Cloy (BHS sophomore) are playing for the Abilene West AirHogs team.  Although most of the players had to try out for a spot, Owen and Guidry were invited to join the team.  Their 16U team is made up of players from Abilene, Brownwood and San Angelo.  The Texas Showcase League is a summer baseball league based out of Mansfield, Texas.

The season started the weekend of June 7th-9th and will culminate with a world series in Austin July 18-21.  The league plays weekend tournaments in Waco, Abilene and Austin.

Opening weekend, the Abilene West AirHogs won 3 of 4 games, losing only in the 7th inning of their last game on Sunday.

Friday, June 14th, they played at Hardin Simmons winning 11-5.  Play continued at McMurray University on Saturday, followed by pool play at HSU and Abilene Christian University, then finished with bracket play on Sunday.  The team made it into the semi-finals of this second tournament.
