Vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death among children in the nation, so Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) Brownwood District will host a child safety seat check-up event and resource fair from 3-6 PM this Thurs., Sept. 22 at Big Country Ford (500 W. Commerce Street) in Brownwood.

Parents and caregivers are invited to bring the kids for a safety seat check-up where Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will provide hands on education on how to safely install a child safety seat; how to correctly place a child in a safety seat; check that the safety seat has not been recalled or expired; and offer tips on how to choose the appropriate safety seat based on a child’s age, height, and weight.

During the event, community resource organizations will be present to provide information about services offered. This will be a time of safety education, fun events, and information for the entire family.
