Mary Lou Low Smith

Mary Lou Low Smith, 89, of Mansfield, formerly of Comanche, passed from this life, Thursday September 15, 2022, in Arlington, TX. The family has entrusted Heartland Funeral and Cremations of Comanche with the arrangements to honor the life of Mary Lou. The family will greet Mary’s friends during a visitation at Heartland’s Chapel beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday September the 24th. The funeral will begin at 12 noon with Pastor Paul Gutierrez officiating. Interment will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery of Comanche.

Mary Lou Low was born March 10, 1933, in Paint Rock, TX to Joseph M and Lemmer J. (Rinehart) Low. She attended school in Comanche. Mary Lou was married July 4, 1946, to Ernest Archie (Sonny Boy) Smith in Comanche where they lived together until his passing in 1996. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, baking, and gardening; she was a caregiver of family and friends. Mary Lou was a member of the Full Gospel Church. She moved from Comanche to Mansfield in 2020 to be closer to her family.

Mary Lou is survived by son Ernest Wayne Smith and wife Nancy, daughter-in-law, Brenda Smith; grandchildren, Laurie Remington and husband Matt, Melissa Cook and husband Patrick, Melinda Smith, Wayne Turner, and Adrianna; eleven great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Sonny Boy Smith, son Carl Layne Smith, granddaughter Carla Ann Smith Turner, grandson Duane Smith. Due to the passing of all 14 siblings, she was the last “Queen Bee.”
