Wanda Judy Erwin was born March 13, 1938, to Woodrow and Juanita James in Santa Anna, Texas.

Judy passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Hendrick Memorial Center in Abilene. She leaves behind her husband of 63 years, Eugene Erwin; sons, Eric Erwin (Lisa) of Amarillo and Tod Erwin (Rhonda) of Eastland; grandchildren, Reed, Krysten, Skyler and Christopher Erwin; great grandchildren, Emma and Zander Erwin; sister, Suzanne Johnson (Joel); brother, Jerry James (Brenda) of Rising Star, as well as nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends. Judy was preceded in death by her parents.

Judy graduated from Central High School in San Angelo, Texas and attended 1 year of school at San Angelo Jr College. Eugene and Judy married May 16, 1959 and began their life together. Judy loved to travel and New Mexico was her favorite place. The family traveled to Cloudcroft, Ruidoso or Santa Fe every year, if possible, in the Fall. She was the queen of Christmas and the house was always dressed to the nines for the holidays. Eugene and Judy made Christmas magical for the family.

To her family, Judy was simply known as Mimi. She loved spending time going through her picture albums of family vacations. She enjoyed working in the garden and took care of so many beautiful plants. Judy and Eugene would sit outside every morning and evening, amongst the lovely plants and enjoy watching the wildlife together. They especially enjoyed the Whitetail deer family that they fed and took care of, that would faithfully come back year after year. Several cats depended on the kindness of Eugene and Judy daily as well. Above all else, Judy loved her husband of 63 years, Eugene, the most.

Judy and Eugene had attended church at the Church of Christ in San Angelo and Emmanuel Chapel United Methodist Church in Brownwood.

Condolences, memories and tributes can be offered to the family online at heartlandfuneralhome.net.
