Brown county commissioners met in a rare Tuesday morning meeting this week, as county offices were closed in observance on Martin Luther King Jr. day Monday.

Commissioners moved quickly through a brief agenda and approved a 1 year lease agreement with the city of Brownwood for election services and office space for the Elections Office, which is currently housed in the Adams Street Community Center.  No changes were made to the contract, which the city of Brownwood approved during their council meeting last Tuesday.

Commissioners also heard from Brown County Sheriff Bobby Grubbs who reported a total count of 174 total inmates.  Grubbs stated that several of the inmates are ready for transport to prison and 2 of the prisoners are being held for San Saba county.  The jail has a maximum capacity of 198 inmates.  Grubbs also told commissioners that contractors are close to finishing the installation of the new roof on the Law Enforcement Center building.  Although he declined to give a completion date, Grubbs did report that the project has gone smoothly.

And finally commissioners approved a plat for a new subdivision as presented by Ken Eason and Roy Pfingston.  Eagle Valley Subdivision will consist of 7 tracts of land each just over 10 acres.  The proposed subdivision will be near Brookesmith.
