Gregorio S. “Greg” Rodriguez

rodriquezGregorio S. “Greg” Rodriguez, 85, of Brownwood went to be with the Lord on Saturday May 25, 2013. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday May 31, 2013, at St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Brownwood. Burial will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday with a Rosary at 6:00 pm at Davis-Morris Funeral Home in Brownwood.

Greg was born on January 17, 1928, in Joppa, Texas to Doloris and Adelina Valdez Rodriguez. He married Mary Louise Solis in Littlefield, Texas on October 8 1954 and together they moved to Brownwood that same year. They renewed their vows in 1977 in Ranger, Texas at Santa Rita Catholic Church Greg worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, retiring in 1991. As a young man Greg began working in his spare time on sheep ranches and soon learned the art of sheep shearing and his travels doing it took him to as far away as Montana, Colorado, Wyoming and Utah. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church. He loved the outdoors, fishing, cookouts and family gatherings.

Greg is survived by his wife Mary Louise of Brownwood; children, Alfredo S. Delgado Rodriguez and wife Kim of Brownwood, Adeleen “Lina” Rodriguez Mendez of Brownwood and Gregory Stephen Rodriguez, Jr. of Austin, Texas; brother, Tito Rodriguez of Mineral Wells, Texas; grandchildren, Jonas, Veronica and Stephen; many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandson Phillip Mendez, Jr. Condolences for the family may be left at www.davismorrisfuneralhome.com .
