BCFA_LogoFifty years ago, excitement filled the air, boots were polished and shined, hats were dusted off, and storefronts were decorated for Western Week.  This is what marked the start of the annual rodeo and all its festivities.

To mark the 50th anniversary of the Brown County Rodeo, organizers want to revive the tradition and encourage businesses to decorate their business fronts with buntings, flags, banners, and other decorations for Western Week beginning June 3rd.  First, second, and third places will be awarded to the “best decorated” businesses who register to be judged.  Winners will be given an award, media recognition, a spot in the parade, and will have their names announced during the rodeo.  Judging will take place on Monday, June 3rd.

“We are asking that everyone participate in some way to show support of the Brown County Rodeo and the Fair Association that sponsors it,” said Brownwood Chamber Tourism Manager Sunni Modawell.  “The Fair Association has had a tremendous impact on the youth of this community for many decades and deserves a show of appreciation.”

For more information and to register for judging, contact the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce at 325-646-9535.
