wardAmos R. Ward, 90, of Brownwood went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 23, 2013. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Davis-Morris Funeral Home in Brownwood with Pastor Dennis Cawthon officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in May. Visitation will from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Monday at Davis-Morris.

Amos was born August 31, 1922, in Brown County Texas to Charlie and Cora Ward. He married Alma Hollingsworth in September, 1941, in Brown County, and they came to Brownwood in 2006. Amos was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and great, great grandfather. In his younger years he was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.

Amos is survived by his beloved daughters, Pat Patton and Husband Clayton of Brownwood, Peggy Starks and husband Troy of Lubbock, Texas, and Pam Cawthon and husband Dennis of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Homera Stover of Abilene, Texas; grandchildren, Amy Hoffner and husband Steve of Arlington, Texas, Angela Patton of Dallas, Texas, Brandy Stewart and husband Mark of San Antonio, Texas, and April Stephens and husband Ken of Greenville, North Carolina; great grandchildren, Allison Goodling and husband Seth of Haltom City, Texas, Jon Hoffner of Arlington, Texas, Kristen Hoffner of Arlington, Texas, Megan Hoffner on Denton, Texas, Zachary Kidd and wife Holly of Killeen, Texas, Isaac Kidd of San Antonio, Texas, Jacob Kidd of Amherst, Texas, Madeline Stephens of Greenville, North Carolina, and Matthew Stephens of Greenville, North Carolina; great, great grandchildren, Adelaide Goodling of Haltom City, Texas, Levi Gooding of Haltom City, Texas and Cali Kidd of Killeen, Texas; sister, Homera Stover of Abilene, Texas; sister-in-law, Juanita Ward of Bangs; nieces and nephews, Janice Jones and husband Lew of Abilene, Texas, Bob Wilson and wife Marie of Elk City, Oklahoma, and Betty Cox and Husband Tin of Roanoke, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his wife Alma Ward; brothers, Herschel Ward, Monroe Ward, DeRaymon Ward, Doyle Ward and sister, Pauline Ward. Condolences for the family may be left at www.davismorrisfuneralhome.com .
