Rodger “Dodger” Powell, age 51, of Brownwood passed away Saturday, July 16, 2022, in Abilene.

Graveside Services for Rodger will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Oakhill Cemetery in Lampasas. No visitation will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Rodger was born on September 4, 1970, to Johnny Sr. and Bertie May (Jackson) Powell in Brownwood. He attended Brownwood schools. He did general labor for years in and around Brownwood. Rodger loved sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and Texas Longhorns.

Rodger is survived by his mother, Bertie Powell of Brownwood; four brothers, Johnny Powell Jr of Early, Roy Powell and wife Cathy of Cedar Creek, Tommy Powell of Abilene, and Larry Powell and wife Trini of Cleveland, TX; one sister, Janette Waddle and husband Harold of May; very special aunt, Shirley Powell of Brownwood; 2 special cousins, Curtis Powell and wife Amanda of Brownwood, Kimberly Lewis and husband Walter of San Saba; and his lifelong friends, Lynn Evans and wife Beverly. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and his friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Powell Sr.; and a brother, Donald Powell Sr.
