According to Assistant Fire Chief Grady Shuey, he and other firemen, members of the Brownwood Professional Firefighters Association from Brownwood will travel to West today and will participate in the fire truck procession for the memorial.

The lead firefighters of this group are Brent Bruton and Ben Edwards who are also with the newly forming Heart of Texas Honor Guard.  The Heart of Texas Honor Guard is made up of members from Brownwood, Stephenville and San Angelo.  Bruton and Edwards will lead the members of the honor guard from Brownwood.  Additional events they will participate in are the opening of new fire stations in both Stephenville and Brownwood.

A memorial will be held on Thursday, April 25th at Baylor University to honor those who perished in the explosion in West.

At least 14 people died and more than 200 others were injured when the West Fertilizer Company caught fire and a following explosion leveled the plant along with other surrounding homes and businesses.  West is approximately 20 miles north of Waco, Texas.
