Eleven Lions land on 6-4A all-district baseball team

The Brownwood Lions earned 11 selections to the 6-4A all-district baseball roster as the coaches of the league revealed their selections over the weekend.

Brownwood sophomore Gavin Brandstetter was tabbed the Offensive MVP of the district, the lone superlative honor for the Lions.

Selected to the first team were pitcher Kyle Ivy, catcher Logan Posey, and outfielder Case Markham.

Chosen for the second team were pitcher David Turner and infielder Jacob Hataway, Cole Miller, and Justin Valdez

Receiving honorable mention were outfielders Kaden Bessent and Campbell Gilmore.

The rest of the superlative awards included MVP Reece Elston of Stephenville, Defensive MVP Cutter Gray of Stephenville, Utility MVP Braulio Silva of Glen Rose, Newcomer of the Year Luke Heller of Stephenville, and the Coaching Staff of the Year went to Glen Rose.

Rounding out the first team were pitchers Hayden Mooney of Gatesville, Jonas Anderson of Lampasas and Wyatt Walters of Glen Rose; infielders Cade Wright of Stephenville, Corbin Postin of Stephenville, Rawlin Smith of Lampasas, Cayden Mata of Gatesville, Jake Gilbreath of Glen Rose and Bodee Mauser of Glen Rose; outfielders Clayton Easter of Stephenville and Parker Allman of Gatesville; and designated hitter Dylanjer Meiron of Stephenville.

The remainder of the second team featured pitchers Jadon Johnson of Stephenville and Brandt Fowler of Glen Rose; catcher Elijah Calderson of Lampasas; infielders Christian DeLaCruz of Glen Rose, Nate Borchardt of Lampasas, and Nate Barry of Stephenville; outfielders Dax Brookeson of Lampasas, Kyler Bowman of Stephenville, Damian Flores of Gatesville, and Aden Rascoe of Lampasas; and designated hitter Cannon Harper of Glen Rose.

The Lions – in their third season under head coach Brian Harris – finished the year with a 9-16-1 overall record, 6-6 in district, and were the third seed tfor the playoffs where they were eliminated in bi-district action.
