A graveside funeral service for Joy Geer, age 75, of Bangs, will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 28, 2022, in the Bangs Cemetery, under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

Mrs. Geer died Sunday, May 22, 2022, in Brownwood.

Melinda “Joy” Geer was born Melinda Joy Bradeen on October 13, 1946, in Harlingen, to Melvin Frank Bradeen Jr. and Amy Lois Brown Bradeen.  Joy graduated from Port Isabel High School in 1966 and went on to attend business school.  Joy married John Osburn Geer on July 6, 1967.  They had two daughters, Lisa Jane Geer (Dick) and Melinda Marie Geer (Harlow).

Joy worked at Texas Instruments and worked at 3M for over 30 years.  Joy was loved by all who knew her and was a faithful follower of Jesus.  She was a dedicated wife, mother, daughter, and friend, and loved her family unconditionally.  Joy was a member of Concord Baptist Church for over 46 years, where she served as treasurer and a Sunday school teacher.

Joy was preceded in death by her husband John Geer, parents Melvin and Lois Bradeen, brother Allen Bradeen, parent in-laws, John and Myrtle Geer sisters-in-law, Cedonia Simons, Freddie Geer and Novella Geer.

She is survived by daughters Lisa Dick and husband Eric of Brownwood and Marie Harlow and husband Jeremy of Stephenville; grandchildren Emily (Dick) Borbon and husband Isaac, Robert Dick and wife Samantha, Logan Dick and wife Natalie, Brinkley Harlow and Kamdyn Harlow; sister Virginia Thornburg and husband Rodney as well as numerous loved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Although Joy will be greatly missed by her friends and family, she is now in her eternal home with Jesus.

The family suggest that memorials be made to Concord Baptist Church, Bangs Food Pantry, or to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation ( https://app.mobilecause.com/vf/PFFTribute/JoyGeer )

Condolences, memories and tributes can be offered to the family online at heartlandfuneralhome.net.
