The Bangs Lady Dragons and Early Lady Horns both landed in the win column Tuesday night as they continued their quests for playoff berths in District 8-3A softball.

The Lady Dragons rolled to a 10-0 win over Dublin to move to 7-2 in league action and 11-5 for the season.

Bangs scored twice in the bottom of the first inning, three times in the third and five times in the fifth to enforce the 10-run mercy rule.

The 12-hit attack featured two home runs and four RBIs from Jadyn Miller; two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs from Abby Wolf; two hits, including a solo homer, from Jacee Miller; three hits, including a double, and an RBI from McKenzie Hughes; and base hits from Neeley Bradley, Mariah Ruiz and Sierra Lorah.

In the circle, Wolf tossed a four-hit shutout over five innings with nine strikeouts and one walk.

The Lady Horns cruised past Comanche, 16-5, to boost their record to 6-3 against 8-3A foes and 17-5 for the season.

Trailing 4-3 after one inning, the score was tied at 5 through two frames, then Early reeled off the final 11 runs – including eight in the top of the fifth inning.

Early generated 17 hits – three by Stoney Laughlin; two each by Taylor Summers, Aubrey Greaves, Jordan Simmons, Teagan Lopez, Grace LaRue, and Jordyn McIntire; and one apiece by Trinity Torrez and Marissa Reedy. Lopez collected a team-high three RBIs; Summers, Simmons and LaRue added two apiece; and Greaves, Laughlin, Reedy, McIntire and Torrez were credited with one apiece. As a team, the Lady Horns recorded five extra-base hits.

Lopez went the distance in the circle, giving up two earned runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and one walk. The Early defense committed two errors.

In other action Tuesday night, the Bangs Dragons slipped to 0-7 in district baseball action with a 15-12 loss to Dublin. Meanwhile, the baseball game between Early and Comanche was postponed with the Longhorns leading 10-7 due to a failure with the lights. The game is expected to be resumed later this month.

The Bangs teams host Comanche at 5 and 7 p.m. Friday, while the Early squads welcome Millsap at the same times.
