The Howard Payne University athletic department will honor four individuals and two teams at the 2022 HPU Sports Alumni Banquet on Saturday, May 14th.

The 2022 HPU Sports Alumni Weekend awards banquet will be Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Coggin Ave. Baptist Church’s Community Life Center (1715 Coggin Ave., Brownwood, TX 76801).

A reception will be at 5:15 p.m., dinner served at 6:00 p.m., and the award ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. Cost of banquet tickets is $20 per person.

The annual HPU Sports Alumni Banquet is held in the spring to honor great Yellow Jacket teams of the past, recognize individuals who have accomplished great things outside of HPU athletics, officially induct individuals or teams into the HPU Sports Hall of Fame, and recognize athletic alumni who have excelled in the arena of sports, either as coaches or administrators after graduation.

HPU Sports Alumna – Peggy Taylor Davis ’84
Alumni Coach of the Year – Morgen Walker ’93
Team of the Year – 1990-91 HPU Women’s Tennis Team
Team of the Year – 1990-91 HPU Men’s Tennis Team
2022 HPU Sports Hall of Fame Inductees – Dr. Edward Randle ’97 (MBSK), and the 1997 HPU 4×100 Relay Team (Marty Van Dyke ’99, Wilmer Ray ’99, JJ Davis, Sedrick Medlock)

HPU will also host the 2022 George “Pat” Bell Memorial Golf Tournament (Four-man scramble) that morning Saturday, May 14th at 9:00 a.m. at the Brownwood Country Club (5875 Co Rd 225, Brownwood, TX 76801). The cost for a four-man team is $400.00 and an individual player cost is $100.00.
