Iris Hayes Parker

Iris Hayes Parker, age 70, of Abilene, died Friday, March 18, 2022, at her residence.

The family will host a visitation from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends are invited to a funeral service following the visitation at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.

She was born Iris Irene Hayes on June 19, 1951, in Coleman to John Hayes and Sylvia Alyene Laws Hayes. She grew up in Coleman and graduated from Blackwell High School. After graduation, Iris attended Texas State Technical College where she received a degree in accounting and office management. Iris worked for McCallister Trucking for a number of years and then went to work for Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance as a claims examiner. She retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield after 13 years of employment. Iris married her long-time love, Randy Parker, in 2011 at Lake Coleman. She enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, reading, and cooking. Iris will be missed by all who knew her.

Preceding Iris in death are her parents, John Hayes and Alyene Laws Trewitt.

She is survived by her husband, Randy Parker of Abilene; one brother, Dan Hayes and wife Sheila of Blackwell; two sisters, Patricia Hayes of Coleman, and Cheryl Hayes of Lake Brownwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials are suggested in memory of Iris to the ASPCA at www.aspca.org or to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
