Edna L. Petty

PettyEdnaEdna L. Petty, age 86, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 28, 2013 after a lengthy illness.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Davis-Morris Funeral Home, 800 Center Avenue, Brownwood, with Reverend Aaron Lamont officiating.  Burial will follow at Zephyr Cemetery.  Visitation was held on Saturday.

Edna Stebbins Petty was born on March 30th, 1926, to Harry and Annie Childers Stebbins in Mills County, Texas.  She married George Sidney Petty, Jr. on July 8th, 1939.  Edna was a lifelong resident of Zephyr and attended Zephyr Church of Christ.  She enjoyed working her land and tending to her cattle.  Edna was a hard worker at Sydren Manufacturing Company, where she was a supervisor for 23 years, and then at 3M until she retired at age 67.  She enjoyed hard work, crocheting, quilting, crafts, and making her own clothes.

Edna is survived her children, Richard Petty, and wife, Nancy of Zephyr, and Susie Petty Bills, and husband Darrel, of Snyder;  daughter-in-law, Heike Petty of Germany; nephew, Antony Castillo, and wife, Gina, of San Antonio; 9 grandchildren;  many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Sidney, Jr.; parents, Harry and Annie Stebbins, and her son Hollis S. Petty.

Edna had been residing with her daughter in Snyder. The family would like to give thanks to the wonderful staff at Compass Hospice that provided such great care to Edna in her last days, and to the staff at Wright Funeral Home in Snyder.  Condolences for the family can be left at www.davismorrisfuneralhome.com.
