Santiago Martinez Gonzalez, age 76, of Bangs passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022, at a nursing facility in Fredericksburg.

Celebration of Life for Santiago will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel with Raymond Perez officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Santiago was born on November 28, 1945, to Ypolito and Clara (Martinez) Gonzalez in Hondo, Texas. He graduated from Edgewood High School in San Antonio. He married Virginia Partida Gonzalez on August 19, 1981, in Fredericksburg. They moved to Bangs in 1986. Santiago was a member of New Testament of Holiness Church.

Santiago was an extremely hard worker. He loved landscaping and yardwork, which he took pride in.

Santiago is survived by his daughter, Angeline Fletcher of Bangs; son, Joseph Hernandez of Dallas; 4 grandchildren, Adrian Salazar, Jossiah Gonzalez, Chloe Fletcher, and Selah Fletcher; one sister, Jane Vaquera of San Antonio; he is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Partida Gonzalez; his parents, Ypolito and Clara; and several brothers and sisters.
