Longhorns, Lady Dragons secure district basketball victories

COMANCHE – The Early Longhorns improved to 5-2 in District 8-3A basketball action and 18-8 overall with a 59-53 road victory over Comanche Friday night.

Leading the charge for Early against Comanche (7-10, 2-5) were John Hill with 13 points, Vic Cooper and Jaxyn Price with 12 each, Jeremy Brown with 11, Korbin Hall with 10 and Kaleb Hoffman with two points.

Lady Dragons 36, Dublin 35

BANGS – The Bangs Lady Dragons notched their second District 8-3A girls basketball victory Friday night, edging Dublin at home, 36-35.

Maggie Morales led Bangs (9-18, 2-7) with 17 points against Dublin (3-22, 1-8) followed by Jacee Miller with 13, and Jadyn Miller, Kasey Solis and Neelie Bradley added two points each.

Comanche 52, Lady Horns 46

COMANCHE – The Early Lady Horns were dealt a 52-46 road loss by Comanche Friday night.

Early (10-14, 4-5) led Comanche (8-13, 2-7) by a 17-12 count after one quarter, 30-25 at halftime and 39-35 through three quarters, but was outscored 17-7 over the final eight minutes.

Dana Lykes led the Lady Horns with 13 points followed by Taylor Summers with 11, Jordan Simmons and Madison Torrez with six each, Carrigan Norris and Caroline Welker with five each, and Averey Horton with two points.

Dublin 74, Dragons 40

BANGS – The Bangs Dragons slipped to 0-7 in District 8-3A boys basketball action and 3-12 on the season with a 74-40 loss to Dublin Friday night.

Dublin moved to 10-9 overall and 4-3 in league action.

Bangs hosts Comanche Tuesday while Early welcomes Millsap
