Ray Edward Gowin, age 81, of Brownwood, passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at his nieces home in Decatur, Texas.

He was born August 14, 1940, in Alva, Wood County, Texas, the son of Edwin and Jimmie (Lankford) Gowin.  Following completion of high school, he served in the U. S. Army.  He had been a resident of Brownwood most of his life and had worked in the iron and metal recycling business.

He is survived by two nieces, Shelly Pearson of Decatur, and Shauna Diffenbaugh and husband Allen of Bedford, three great-nieces, Ashely Young and husband L. J. of Paradise, Aubrey Peason of Paradise, and Emma Stanley of Bedford, and a great-nephew, Cadyn Stanley of Bedford.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Perry Glen Gowin.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Monday, December 27, 2021, in the Greenleaf Cemetery.
