85-degrees

The average high on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in Brownwood is 58 degrees.  But, according to KOXE Meteorologist Randy  Turner, we can expect highs in the middle 80’s.  “Record breaking temperatures are definitely in the forecast Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in Brown County.  Looking in the record book for Brownwood, all the way back to 1950, the warmest Christmas Eve high temperature I’ve found was 85 degrees in 1955.  Second warmest Christmas Eve on record was 80 degrees in 1974 and 80 again in 2005,” Turner said.  As for the warmest Christmas Day on record in Brownwood since 1950, it was 78 degrees in 2015.    “We’ll quite possibly tie, perhaps break the Christmas Eve record of 85 and should easily break the Christmas Day record of 78,”Turner added.  While snow is not even in the cards this year, like most years, Brownwood last recorded a Christmas Day snow of 3 inches in 2009.

In addition to very warm weather on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in Brown County, gusty southwest wind and low humidity will increase the potential for wildfires over West Central Texas.

There is no rain in the forecast through early next week.
