The 5-4A Division I all-district football roster has been revealed following the Stephenville Yellow Jackets’ run to the Class 4A Division state championship, and 16 Brownwood Lions were honored by the league coaching staff.

The lone superlative honor went to sophomore Junior Martinez, who was tabbed as the district’s Special Teams MVP. Martinez converted all five of his field attempts with a long of 31, and booted 35 of 39 extra points. Martinez also handled the majority of the punting duties for Brownwood (4-7, 2-3) this season.

First-team offensive selections included junior running back Konlyn Anderson, senior guard Brandon Still, junior outside receiver Jason Jackson and senior inside receiver Elias Huerta-Doud. Anderson rushed for 1,880 yards and 20 touchdowns, Jackson caught 37 passes for 601 yards and nine scores Huerta-Doud grabbed 26 receptions for 270 yards with a touchdown, and Still helped clear the way for an offense that averaged 30 points and 367 yards – 264 rushing and 103 passing – per outing.

Brownwood had no players selected to the first-team defense.

Second-team defensive choices for the Lions were sophomore defensive tackle Quinten McCarty, and senior safety Quentin Thompson. Thompson ranked second on the team with 86 tackles and two fumble recoveries while McCarty led all defensive lineman with 52 tackles, including 4.5 for loss.

Landing on the second-team offense for Brownwood were senior center Ethan Pesina, junior quarterback Chance Jones, and junior inside receiver Case Markham. Jones completed 89 of 191 passes for 1,129 yards with 15 touchdowns and five interceptions while rushing for 687 yards and six scores. Markham hauled in three catches for 47 yards and a touchdown and added 61 yards on the ground, and Pesina rushed for a 2-yard touchdown along with anchoring the offensive front.

Receiving honorable mention for the Lions were senior guard Alex Reyna, junior tackle Slayde Espinoza, junior receiver Thad Hinds (10-132, 3 TDs), senior tight end Christian Chambers (1-4 TD),

junior outside linebacker Dryden Anderson (96 tackles, 8.5 for loss, 3 sacks, 1 fumble recovery), and sophomore inside linebacker Jaylan Brown (78 tackles, 3.5 for loss, 1 sack, 2 fumble recoveries).
