Rosie “Rose” McClain, age 91, of Brownwood passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at home.

Funeral Services for Rosie will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel with Zachary Jarmon officiating. Visitation will be held prior to service from 12 to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Rosie Mae McClain was born August 26, 1930, to Ruth Goins and George Davis, and was the first of five children. Rose was born and raised in Fort Worth where she attended school. She became a Registered Nurse in the mid 1960’s and had a long and successful career both as a practicing clinician as well as a trainer for new nurses. At retirement, Rose was the ICU Charge Nurse at Fort Worth Osteopathic Hospital.

Rose married her beloved husband, Larry McClain in May of 1981. Together, they enjoyed a colorful and adventure-filled 39 years of marriage, and over 40 years together until he preceded her in death in January of this year. Rose and Larry relocated to Brownwood after her retirement and made it their home. Becoming a great addition to the town and their community.

Those left behind to remember her and celebrate her life are her seven loving children: Peggy, Michael, Patricia, Gary, Terry, Waymond and Joe Allen; step-children: Shennel McClain, Larry McClain, Jr. and Paul McClain; her grandchildren: Yalonda, Clarence, Michael, Deidra, Genecia, Patricia, Walter, Gary Jr. (whom she raised from birth as her own), Tina, Rose, Moses, Terry, Johnathan, Crayston, Antoine, and Joe Allen’s 3 children. She is also survived by a host of beloved great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Larry McClain; mother, Ruth Meeks; father, George Davis; her brothers, George Davis Jr, J.D. Baker and Clarence Baker; and her sister and best friend, Gloria Jones.
