Rising Star ISD Education Foundation still has a few available openings in the Central Texas Junior Debate League.

This program is open to any 7th and 8th grade students within a thirty mile radius of Rising Star, Texas. Practice is on Thurs nights from 6-9 PM at Rising Star ISD. Competitions will be attended on Saturdays and students will travel all over the state to attend them. Students will be able to compete against some of the most prestigious schools in the state.

The children will be coached by Dr. Max Thompson, Superintendent of Rising Star ISD. Dr. Thompson possesses over 20 years of experience in the art of Debate and has taken countless numbers of students all the way to national competitions in the few years he has been at Rising Star.

This program will provide an academic outlet for a young mind as well as present a new opportunity to experience another perspective in life. Not to mention that studies show that students that participate in Debate are proven to retain more college ready skills than their non-debating peers.

This program is free of charge to the parents; however, donations are accepted and are fully tax deductible.  If you have a junior high child that you feel needs this academic enrichment, please contact Sarah Childers at 325-203-3262 for further information.
