A graveside funeral service for Edith L. Dodson, age 88, of Santa Anna, will be held at 11:00 AM, on Monday, November 22, 2021, in the Santa Anna Cemetery Pavilion, with David McClean officiating.  The family will receive friends at Heartland Funeral Home in Early on Sunday afternoon from 4:00 until 6:00.

Edith passed from this life on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, in a Brownwood nursing facility.

Edith Louise Alley was born in San Angelo on June 24, 1933, to Wesley and Amanda (Applin) Alley.  She was a graduate of Bangs High School. Edith married Freddie Dodson on October 25, 1967, in Brownwood. They were members of the First Baptist Church of Santa Anna.  Edith was also a member of the Self Culture Club, a licensed cosmetologist, and an accomplished seamstress.

Edith worked for Sidrens Manufacturing in Brownwood and owned and operated Modern Way Laundry in Santa Anna with her husband.  She loved her church, cooking, helping Freddie with farm and ranch chores, caring for her animals, and being a member of the Santa Anna Volunteer Fire Department.

Edith is survived by her brother-in-law, Doc Dodson and wife Charlesye of Lake Brownwood and a nephew, Chester Ballard of Brownwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Freddie in 2012, a sister, Hazel Alley Mobley and two brothers, David Alley and Arthur Alley.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Santa Anna Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 711, Santa Anna, 76878.

Condolences, memories, and tributes can be offered to the family online at heartlandfuneralhome.net.
