Gary Len Hamrick, 83, of Bangs, Texas passed away Sunday, November 7, 2021. A Memorial Service will be held in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, November 10, 2021.

Gary was born September 14, 1938 in Floydada, Texas to Clinton Jim and Carrie Lou Hamrick. He graduated high school in Comanche and joined the US Army. After serving his country, Gary married his beloved Verba Raye Mathews in a union that lasted over 60 years and blessed them with 3 children. Gary worked for 3M in shipping and receiving for over 30 years. His first career was a barber working for Floy Frasier cutting hair in Brownwood. Gary was the youth baseball coach for many years, he served on the Bangs school board for 27 years, he was the Brown County Youth Fair Swine Superintendent for numerous years. He always had amusing stories to tell and enjoyed “shooting the bull” with anyone who would listen. Gary spent many summers in Mountain View Arkansas listening to blue grass music and never meeting a stranger. His hobbies include wood working, whittling, can making, selling hay and socializing with his many friends and customers. He was loved by many and he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Gary was a great dad and mentor to not only his children and grandchildren but to everyone he met.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Verba Ray Hamrick of Bangs; daughters, Donna Hamrick and Cheryl Crawford & husband Larry of Bangs; son, Mark Hamrick and girlfriend, Michelle Stocks of Early; beloved sister, Martha Parker; brother-in-law Jim Parker of Deleon; 7 grandchildren, Ty McDaniel, Tanner McDaniel, Kim Crawford, Payton Hamrick and wife Wytni, Sydnee Crawford, Logan Hamrick and Brody Crawford; 5 great grandchildren, Hannah, Luke, Karson, Kenleigh McDaniel, Jozie Raye Hamrick and Blake Crawford; and many nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Wayne, Darwin and Edwin.
