Freda Joyce Purcell, age 79, of Bangs, passed away Sunday morning at her home in Bangs.

She was born October 9, 1942 in Coleman, Texas at the Overall Hospital, the daughter of Ottis Lee Havner and Florie Mae (Dillard) Havner. She was married to Dale Purcell at Brownwood on December 24, 1959. She had been a resident of Bangs all of her life and had worked in food service as a cafeteria worker for the Bangs Schools. She enjoyed gambling especially playing bingo, watching sports, and doing crafts. Her and her husband also enjoyed square dancing. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bangs.

Survivors include her son, Ronnie Purcell and wife Beckie of Bangs, two sisters, Ruby Hosch of Santa Anna and Nelda Davis of Blanket, four grandchildren, Joshua Purcell and wife Kelcy of Bangs, Benjamin Purcell and wife Shannon of Bangs, Shronda Eddington and husband Dominick of Brownwood and Skylar Purcell of Bangs, eight great grandchildren, two sisters-in-laws, Anita Purcell of Bangs and Ethel HJill of Brownwood as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two sons, William Lee and Jerry Lee Purcell.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, October 27, at the First Baptist Church in Bangs with Dr. Pepper Dill and Shannon Bond officiating. Burial will follow in the Bangs Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 PM on Tuesday at the Heritage Funeral Home, Davis-Morris Chapel in Brownwood.

Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of Heritage Funeral Home, Davis-Morris Chapel. Friends and family are encouraged to view the online memorial at www.heritagefuneraltx.com.
