b2116Most towns brag on their local firefighters for their bravery.  Brownwood is lucky enough to have both brave firefighters, but also skilled ones that can use their resources and save the community tens of thousands of dollars.

A group of Brownwood firefighters used their skills and devotion to refurbish a 1996 Ford truck.  By spending only about $6000, they managed to save the city an amount which the Fire Chief and Assistant Chief estimate to be around $60,000 in taxpayer dollars.

They started by buying the bed of the truck which was at a local salvage yard ready to be cut up for scrap.  They restored and restructured as shown in the pictures below.

It took about five months, according to the firemen, to turn the old “Rescue 1” truck into the newly restored “Booster 2” truck.    The truck looks great and will be kept at Station 2 on Indian Creek.

Workers on this project were:  Grady Shuey, Greg Woodcox, David Reiger, Shannon Stone, Justin Posey, Bryan Harvey, Matt Campbell, Brad Gilmore, Trent Thompson, James Lemond, Kyle Whitley, Jake Landess, Brent Bruton, Brent Holley, Evan Owen, Robert Meyers, and Chad Hill.
