Nexus Community Church was awarded a trophy for the most festive booth at the 4th annual Christmas Under the Stars Festival over the weekend.

Many local non-profit and service groups participated in the festival, volunteering hours and also working to support good causes.  Nexus Community Church ran a bake sale type booth to help children overseas with medical issues.

Beautiful cookies, brownies and hot chocolate along with other treats were served to raise funds for needed heart surgeries of Iraqi children.  According to organizers from the church, there is a whole generation of Iraqi people who need heart surgery and the organization named Preemptive Love Coalition is working to provide the surgery for the Iraqi children and at the same time, bring peace between communities at odds.

Information given at the booth states that $695, the cost of the surgery in Iraq through the work of the coalition, can save a child’s life.
