Joe N. Daniel, age 78, of Brownwood passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021 at the VA Hospital in Temple after a brief illness. A memorial service for Joe will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 15, in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel.

Joe was born on January 8, 1943 to Nix Joe and Thelma Faye Daniel in Brownwood. He attended school in Brownwood, and later joined the United States Army. Joe married Debra Rogers May 11, 1991 in Brownwood. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 3278 where he spent most of his years after returning from Vietnam volunteering for veterans’ programs. Joe spent many years as a self-employed paint and drywall contractor. He loved doing yard work; you could always find him cutting down trees, bushes, and flowers, even he wasn’t supposed to. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid reader, loving military history the most. Most of the time when he was alone, you could find him with a cup of coffee, a book, and his pets.

Joe is survived by his wife, Debbie of Brownwood; children, Dennis Daniel and wife Sheena of Brownwood, Dee Dee Inglet and husband Mack of Conroe, Amanda Bronniman and husband Justin of Brownwood, and Joshua Briscoe and wife Buffie of Mt. Vernon Ohio; 9 grandchildren; Trey Daniel and wife Brittany, Michael Castille, Zach Ghinaudo and wife Ruby, Nikki Ghinaudo, Skyler Bronniman, Hallie Briscoe, Gavin Briscoe, Jayden Forbes, and Shaelynn Forbes; 1 great grandchild, Gracelynn Daniel; and sister, Loretta Herbert of Wimberly. He is also survived by a host of friends and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, Nix and Thelma Daniel.
