Ray Ferguson

Ray Ferguson, age 72, of Coleman, died Tuesday, August 10, 2021, in Brandon Florida.

The family will host a visitation from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 20, 2021, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Hague officiating. Interment will follow in the Shields Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, in Coleman.

He was born Melvin Ray Ferguson, Jr. on February 18, 1949, in Galveston, Texas to Melvin Ray Ferguson and Cecelia Ruffins Ferguson. Ray grew up in Alvin, Texas and graduated from Alvin High School. He was a pipeline inspector for over 30 years working all over the United States. Ray married Denice Cunningham Rutledge in Coleman. He enjoyed shooting guns and welding. He was a member of the American Welding Society and the PRCA Rodeo. Ray loved his family and friends. He will be missed.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Denice Rutledge Ferguson of Coleman; two daughters, Lachelle Batenburg and husband Tony of Merkel, and Magen Crawford and husband Duston of Coleman; and his granddaughter, Aspen Batenburg of Merkel.

Memorials are suggested in memory of Ray to the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center at www.mdanderson.org.
