ArtAssociationLogoThe Brownwood Art Association’s Ima Gem Queen exhibit and sale continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays through November 15th from 11:30am – 1:30pm.

According to organizers, this is an exhibit of 90 plus paintings which gives those attending an opportunity to add to or start their own art collection.  The exhibit represents a lifetime of Ima Gem Queen’s paintings in oil, pastels and watercolors.

Ima Gem, an early member of the Art Association, was a very versatile and accomplished artist. She was equally proficient in oil, pastel and watercolor. She studied with a number of well-known artists; she especially enjoyed the workshops conducted by William Henry Earl, Kay Franklin, Carole Sudderth Pyburn and Paul Friske.

Ima Gem Queen was born October 21, 1916 and passed away September 10, 2011. Through the years she served in virtually every office of the Art Association. She presided as president from 1979 through 1981. She especially enjoyed being editor of the Palette Rag, the association’s newsletter.

The exhibit is currently on display at the art center located at 215 Fisk Avenue.
