Betty Kathlene More Beyer

Betty Kathlene Moore Beyer, 77, of Abilene, formerly of Pampa and Brownwood, passed from this life on Monday, June 21, 2021 in Abilene, TX. A visitation will be held at 9am, Friday, June 25th with services to follow at 10am at Grace Lutheran Church of Brownwood, with Pastor Richard Mittelstadt officiating. A graveside service will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Grosvenor, TX. Services are under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home in Early.

Betty was born on April 17, 1944 to Ira Phillip Moore and Georgia Emma Riley Moore in Hamilton, TX. Her early education was in Hamilton and Midland, TX. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from McMurry University in Abilene, class of 1966. Betty was a career educator, teaching and serving in administration for 36 years before retiring in 2001. She dedicated her life to service by volunteering with the hospital, meals on wheels, LWML, and Texas Retired Teachers. She married Byron Douglas Beyer on August 5, 1966 in Abilene. They were happily married for 44 years until his death in 2006. She continued to live at Lake Brownwood for 10 years before meeting Tracy Critchfield. They married in 2017 and were very happy together for the last 4 years.

Survivors include a sister, Phyllis Walters and husband Alan of Boerne, TX; son, Scott Beyer and wife, Traci of Abilene; son Jeff Beyer and wife, Angie of Burnet, TX. Four grandchildren; Cody Beyer of San Diego, USMC, Kinley Beyer of Burnet, TX, Emmalee Beyer of Abilene and Zachary Beyer of Abilene.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Grace Lutheran Church of Brownwood or to a charity of your choice.
