The American Red Cross is proud to support the city of Brownwood’s investment in a new fire station on the site of the old Red Cross office on Adams Street. During this transition, the Red Cross continues to respond to disasters in and around the Pecan Valley with care, comfort and support.
“We are working closely with the City of Brownwood to find a new location for the Red Cross in Brownwood” said American Red Cross Chapter Executive Director Janet Karcher. “We work side by side with firefighters and are delighted that Brownwood is continuing to upgrade their facilities as well as ours.”
Last year, the American Red Cross helped to 58 local residents affected by disaster in and around the Brownwood area, and Red Cross volunteers spent countless hours bringing comfort and hope to those who needed it the most. Red Cross workers provided emergency communications and other vital services to 34 local military families with loved ones serving far away, and afforded 52 area children the opportunity to learn to swim through a local Red Cross scholarship. “The Red Cross has been part of this community for almost one hundred years and we intend on being here many more” said Red Cross Board Member Bill Blagg.
The Red Cross is a proud partner of the Brown County United Way, which supports local Red Cross disaster relief efforts.
