LUBBOCK – Brownwood Lions freshmen Sir Bubba Jones and Hudson Reagan both carded opening round 81s at Wednesday’s first round of the Region I-4A boys golf tournament at Shadow Creek Golf Course.
The Lions duo is tied for 36th place heading into Thursday’s second and final round. Argyle’s Gavin Black fired a first-round 67 followed by Gatesville’s Evan Washburn with a 69, with Andrews’ Carder Pool (71) in third place.
In the team standings, Argyle leads the way following a 291 composite score, trailed by Canyon (299) and Monahans (306) as the top three squads and top three golfers not on those teams move on to state.
The UIL Class 4A boys golf state tournament will be held May 17-18 at Plum Creek Golf Course in Kyle, just south of Austin.
