Softball Tournament to Benefit Zaragoza Family Set for Oct. 6th

leapinglionThe Lady Lions softball team will be hosting a Coed softball benefit tournament on Saturday, October 6th at Lady Lion field for Mr. Hector Zaragoza’s family. Hector was the custodian at Coggin Elementary for 12 years.

Mr. Zaragoza was killed in a vehicle accident last month. His wife was also in the vehicle and has been battling through her injuries and is now undergoing extensive rehab.

“We are doing this tournament with the hopes to help this family,” stated BHS Head Softball Coach Amanda Sheffield in an email about the fundraiser. “Coggin is grieving the loss of their friend and co-worker.”

To enter the tournament, contact Amanda Sheffield at 325-320-3880.   Cost to enter is $10 per player.

Rules are as follows:

  • Guys must use a unaltered 28 inch softball or baseball bat
  • Females use USSSA legal bats
  • Designated guy homerun rule applies
  • Female homeruns are free
  • Homeruns hit by any other male (besides designated male) are $5.00 per homerun
  • Possible 6 guy and 4 girl or 7 guy and 3 girl teams
  • Players may be added as the tournament goes on but they must pay $10.00 to be added and cannot have played on any other team previously.
