Arthur Ray Wishert, Sr.

Arthur Ray Wishert Sr., 80, of Brownwood passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021, in Abilene following a lengthy illness.

Celebration of Life for Ray will be held Sunday, April 25, 2021, at the family’s home with family and friends. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Ray was born on November 17, 1940, to Dave Wishert Jr. and Medie “Cissy” Griffith in Snyder.

Ray was always on an adventure. He would move anywhere for work; he lived in California, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Indiana, and many places in Texas. He loved to watch classic western shows, traveling, camping, and fishing. He was great at bowling, holding a National Bowling League card.

Ray is survived by his wife, Martha Elena; children, Shawn Wishert of Brownwood, Edwin Wishert of Brownwood, Whitney Cotton of Killeen, Art Wishert and wife Sandra of Terral; 2 sisters, Gloria Beets and husband Mike of Novice, Pat Edmiston and husband Frank of Odessa; brother, David Wishert and wife Sherry of Texas; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave Wishert Jr. and Medie “Cissy” Griffith; one daughter, Rhonda Wishert; one brother, Loyd Wishert; and son-in-law, Larry Cotton.
