Black smoke blew across U.S. Highway 183 S Tuesday afternoon after a fire was reported across the highway from Aldersgate Enrichment Center shortly before 4:40pm.

The Early and Zephyr Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the fire which caught about a 3 acre pasture ablaze burning a small storage shed and unknown types of debris at the location.  Firefighters on scene said that the debris was causing the black smoke.

Fire crews got the fire under control quickly protecting several nearby homes.  Firefighters said that mop up of the fire would take a while as they cooled down the burnt items.

Fire Marshal Buddy Preston also responded to the scene to investigate.
