Applications are being accepted through April 30 for the third round of Longhorn Legends inductions.

Former Early superintendent Wes Beck stopped to KOXE Monday morning to discuss the nomination process.

“This is a way to recognize ex-students and ex-staff members who have made a difference. You have to be out of school at least 5 five years, or the staff has to be retired or out of Early ISD at least five years,” Beck said. “You can nominate anybody you like, whoever you think should be recognized, and the committee will sent down with a rubric and grade everyone and we’ll see who gets it this year, and who might have to wait.”

Nomination can be submitted through the Longhorn Legends Facebook page, and a link will be added to the Early ISD Facebook page in the future. Nomination forms are also available at the Early ISD Central Office.

Honorees will be recognized during the Longhorns homecoming football game in the 2021 season, and a plaque will be placed in Early High School in the inductee’s honor.

“We didn’t have any kind of recognition for exes and we didn’t want to narrow it down to just athletics,” Beck said. “We’re going to pull from everyone and see where it goes. I’d like to see 500 people in there eventually, but there’s no set number per year. The first year we had four or five and last year we had three.”
