Fatal Wreck in Coleman Claims Life of Abilene Resident

A wreck late Tuesday night in Coleman claimed the life of an Abilene woman.

According to information from the Coleman Police Department, at 11:36 pm a 911 call came into the Coleman County Law Enforcement Center of a crash that occurred on the U.S. Highway 84 Bypass at North Colorado.

When Officers arrived, they found a Toyota 4-Runner and a Ford F-250 on the north side of the roadway with heavy front end damage.  The Toyota contained two occupants.   The passenger was taken by a medical helicopter to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.  The driver of the Toyota was transported to Coleman County Medical Center where she died from her injuries. The driver of the Toyota has been identified as 53 year-old Candace Barr of Abilene.

The driver of the Ford F-250 was transported the Coleman County Medical Center then transferred to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.  Names of those injured were not released.

This crash is being investigated by the Coleman Police Department with assistance from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The Coleman Police Department, Coleman Fire Department, Coleman County Sheriff’s Office and Metro EMS were dispatched to the scene.
