Jackets; Lady Jackets Soccer Lose to Mississippi College

hpusoccerlogoCLINTON, MS – The Howard Payne men’s soccer team suffered their third loss of the year 4-0 to conference opponent Mississippi College Thursday afternoon.

Josh Gardner got the only shot on goal for the Jackets. As a team Howard Payne was outshot 29-7 in the match.

Ryan Young got the loss in goal for HPU recording three saves in 90 minutes of action.

MC scored goals in the 29th and 30th minutes to hold a 2-0 halftime lead. They would get another just 1:49 into the second period. They then rounded out their scoring with a goal in the 72nd minute.

HPU is now 3-3-1 overall and Mc stands at 3-3 overall. The Jackets will travel to Pineville, LA on Saturday to take on Louisiana College at 1:00 pm.


The Howard Payne Lady Jacket soccer team was outshot 26-5 in a 4-0 loss to conference opponent Mississippi College Thursday afternoon.

Adrienne Walker recorded seven saves in her 90 minutes of action at keeper. Shannon Costello had two shots on goal and Leslie Jones finished with one.

HPU found themselves down 3-0 at the half after MC scored goals in the 15th, 32nd and 43rd minutes. MC scored their final goal in the 57th minute.

Howard Payne is now 1-4 on the year and 0-2 in conference play. MC stands at 5-1-1 overall.

Howard Payne will travel to Louisiana College in Pineville, LA on Saturday, it will be a 11:00 am start time.
