BFD Fire and Rescue Reports 9/17

BFDlogoSmallReports released for the week of September 9-15, 2012 from the Brownwood Fire Department include 22 medical emergencies, 6 motor vehicle accidents, 8 fire calls, 1 hazardous material call and 1 animal rescue call.

Reports of interest include:

Sunday, September 9

*4:14pm – Animal Rescue in the 1700 block of Fort Worth.  Kitten was stuck under front passenger seat of car.  Firefighter removed cat from vehicle.

*9:21pm – HazMat call in the 1300 block of Ave A.  BFD was dispatched to investigate smell of gas in the area.  Firefighters investigated but were unable to detect odor.

*9:48pm – Fire Call in the 400 block of Norwood. BFD arrived on scene to find two small brush fires.  Fire Marshal was notified.  City fire codes were enforced and fires were extinguished.

Monday, September 10

*4:31am – Fire Call in the 1500 block of Davis Lane. Smoke in the residence. HVAC motor was hot and smelled like smoke. Breaker was turned off.

*7:41am – Motor vehicle accident in the 3100 block of Austin Avenue involving 2 vehicles. Patient was removed from vehicle and loaded into Guardian for transport.

*8:51am – Fire Call in the 100 block of Center Ave. Arrived to investigate smell of smoke on the second floor.  Smell was determined to be coming from the heaters.

*5:50pm – Fire Call on Melwood Ave.  BFD responded to a vehicle fire.  Upon arrival, vehicle had been extinguished by by-standers.  Firefighters cooled engine with extinguisher.  Fire Marshal was notified.

*5:55pm – Fire Call in the 1300 block of Center Ave.  Responded to a vehicle fire.  Upon arrival, engine compartment was fully involved. Bumper line was pulled and fire was extinguished.

Tuesday, September 11

*8:09am – Motor vehicle accident at 3480 S US 377. BFD dispatched for fuel leaking from 18 wheeler. Upon arrival, found a MVA involving two 18-wheelers. No fuel leak or injuries.

*12:22pm – Fire Call in the 200 block of N Main. Responded to a structure fire.  On arrival, welding on a beam caused a board to smolder.  Firefighters extinguished and removed part of the board.

*4:59pm – Fire Call 8101 CR 267.  BFD responded to a small grassfire.  Upon arrival, the fire was out.  Firefighters mopped up the hot spots.

Wednesday, September 12

*3:34pm – Motor vehicle accident in the 1100 block of Ave D involving 2 vehicles. Check for injuries and provide first aid.

*9:46pm – Fire Call in the 3000 block of Asbury.  BFD was dispatched for a smell of smoke in the residence.  Arrived on scene to find nothing showing. Firefighters checked home with thermal camera but nothing detected. No smoke or danger was found.

Thursday, September 13

*11:05am – Motor vehicle accident in the  400 block of W Commerce involving 4 vehicles. Minor accident with no injuries.

Friday, September 14

*11:39pm – Motor vehicle accident in the  2400 block of Austin Ave involving 2 vehicles with no injuries.

Saturday, September 15

*1:00pm – Fire Call in the 2100 block of Morris Sheppard. BFD was dispatched for unauthorized burning.  Upon arrival, only a bar-q-pit was burning.  Everything was up to code.

*10:58pm – Motor vehicle accident at Coggin and Vine Street involving 2 vehicles with no injuries.
