Wilma Jean (Mobley) Penn

Wilma Jean (Mobley) Penn, age 85, of Brownwood went to her Heavenly home on Thursday, March 18, 2021, surrounded by her family.

Funeral Services for Wilma will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 20, 2021, at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Ember officiating; burial will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to services from 12 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.

Wilma was born on January 19, 1936, to Marvin “Babe” and Florence (Sumpter) Mobley in Brownwood. She worked as a school secretary for many school districts including, Ft. Worth, Bowie, Brownwood, and Snyder before retiring after 45 years.

Wilma married the love of her life, Johnnie Penn, on December 9, 1955, at Coggin Ave. Baptist Church. The two were married for 59 years until he preceded her in death in April of 2015. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandma.

Wilma is survived by her three sons, Joe Penn and wife Lisa of Brownwood, Richard Penn and wife Kathy of Brownwood, Glenn Penn of Blytheville, AR; grandchildren, Brandon Penn and wife Nicole, Brittney Penn and Josh Grier, Hailey Myers and husband Matt, Jenna Smith and husband Robby, Brady Penn and Emily Owen, and Taylor Pitts and husband J.C.; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Thurman, Madison Myers, Breelynn Penn, Cooper Smith, Parker Smith, Grayson Myers, Blaine Penn, Beckham Grier, Chandler Grier, Blake Pitts, and Briella Penn; sister, Geraldine Carmichael and husband Dale of Cedar Park; and brother, Jerry Mobley and wife Dianne of Meridian. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and her friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Penn Sr.; and her parents, Marvin “Babe” and Florence Mobley.
