Carolyn Sue Voss Essary

Carolyn Sue Voss Essary, 74, of Waxahachie, died Thursday, March 4, 2021 at her residence.  The family will host a visitation at 1:00 p.m. with funeral service starting at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman, with Rev. DeWayne Rasor, Rev. Michael Rasor and Rev. Ron Townley officiating.  Burial will be in the Coleman City Cemetery.  Services are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.

Carolyn Sue Voss Essary was born July 30, 1946 in Sand Mountain, Alabama to Vernon Curtis Voss and Ruby Bell Bone Voss.  She grew up and attended school in Houston.  On April 20, 1968, Carolyn married Cecil Jurl Essary in Woodville, Texas.  Carolyn worked for the Novice ISD as a cook in the cafeteria, operated an in-home day care and owned and operated the Dairy Mart restaurant with her husband, Jurl, in Coleman.  Carolyn later helped the elderly in their homes with day to day activities.  She was a member of the Apostolic Living Way Church in Waxahachie

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Jurl Essary of Waxahachie; nine children, Jean O’Hair of Brownwood, Cecil Reagan Essary and wife, Laura, of Clint, Dennis Lee Essary and wife, Andi, of Brownwood; Jurl Wayne Essary and wife, Josie, of Early, Paula Annette “Annie” Ziegler and husband, Bill, of Brownwood, Charles DeWayne Rasor and wife, Karen, of Waxahachie; Gregory Steven Rasor and wife, Debbie, of Lake Brownwood; Anthony Allen Rasor and wife, Donna, of Mt. Pleasant, Michael Moschey Rasor and wife, Karen, of Hallsville; four brothers and sisters, Dwight Crane and wife, Charlene, of New Caney, Coleman Crane and wife, Becky,  of Montgomery, Sheila Townley and husband, Ronnie, of Little Rock, Arkansas and Juanice Voss of Florida.  Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and sister-in-law, JoAnn Voss of Lake City, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Kenneth Voss; one sister, Lavada Graham and one son-in-law, Rob O’Hair, Jr.
