BANGS – The Bangs Dragons opened the Brown County Invitational baseball tournament on their home turf Thursday morning with a 7-2 victory over San Angelo TLCA.

The Dragons scored once in the first inning, added four runs in the second and tacked on two more in the bottom of the sixth inning. The only runs Bangs yielded were scored in the top of the third inning.

Bangs finished with eight hits as Guy Powell and Ethan Cortez finished with a pair and one RBI each, while Ethan Sanchez belted a two-run home run. Angel Arias, Wyatt Lykins and Trevor Bowers also added base hits.

On the mound, Cortez and Arias combined to yield two runs on three hits with 14 strikeouts and a pair of walks.

Bangs will host Breckenridge at 3 p.m. Friday and Perryton at 5:30 p.m. Friday, then close tournament play against Sweetwater at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
