On Monday, Jan. 25, at approximately 5 p.m., officers with the Brownwood Police Department, Brownwood Fire Department and Lifeguard EMS were notified of a traffic accident at the intersection of Austin Ave and Ave C. Citizens were reporting that a motorcycle was struck by a suburban.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed severe trauma to both legs of the motorcycle operator and immediately began medical aid. It did appear that one leg was partially severed. Information at the scene indicated that the motorcycle was traveling northbound on Austin Ave when the suburban turned left, in front of him; attempting to turn into a parking lot.
The operator of the motorcycle was identified as 50 -year-old Phillip Poor of Brownwood. Critical Air care flight was contacted and Mr, Poor was flown to John Peter-Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. His injuries at the time were severe but not considered life threatening.
