During a recent meeting of the Bangs City Council, new council member Rick Phelps asked that hours at the city service center be extended to assist those who can not utilize the facility during the current hours of operation. Mayor Eric Bishop released the following information Tuesday evening: The dumpsters located at the city service center at 1003 North Third Street are available to residential, commercial and industrial customers who receive solid waste sanitation service from the City of Bangs. The service center, which has been open from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday for the past several years, will now offer expanded afternoon hours the first Saturday of each month.

Beginning Saturday, February 6, 2021 the service center will be open from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month. Customers should bring their most recent City of Bangs utility bill reflecting a charge for “GARBAGE”.

Section 13.03.017 of the City of Bangs Code of Ordinances regulates the use of dumpsters at the city service center as follows:

A commercial hauler, other than the commercial hauler which has the exclusive license to collect and transport solid waste from residential units and commercial and industrial units, is prohibited from placing or dumping solid waste in the convenience station.

A private residence, commercial unit, and industrial unit which does not receive sanitation services from the city or the commercial hauler with the exclusive license to collect and transport solid waste from the residential units and commercial and industrial units is prohibited from placing or dumping solid waste in the convenience station.

Any person found to be in violation of any provision of this section shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be subject to a fine not to exceed five hundred and no/100 dollars ($500.00). Each day of such violation shall constitute a separate offense.
