Dorothy Godfrey, age 89, of Blanket, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 31, 2020. Private family services were held on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 in the Rock Church Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home.

Dorothy was born to John and Drucella (Lee) Edwards on September 19, 1931. She married Claud Godfrey on August 25, 1948. Dorothy was a member of Bethel Baptist Church for many years.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of 72 years, Claud Godfrey; sons, David Godfrey and wife Linda, Grant Godfrey and wife Reca, Norman Godfrey and wife Loretta, all of Blanket; daughter, Claudia Harding and husband Odell also of Blanket; brother, Angus Edwards of Comanche; and sister Joy Hesse of Longview. Dorothy is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

She is preceded in death her parents, John and Drucella Edwards; sister, Louise Lancaster, and a grandson, Shawn Godfrey.
