Brownwood sales tax numbers were slightly up with a 1.25% increase over last month. Brownwood is still up 5.25% year-to-date according to the Comptroller’s office.

The City of Early showed a decline in August of -5.40% from the previous month but is still slightly up year-to-date by 0.5% in sales tax allocations.

Blanket also showed a decline in sale tax allocations for August while Bangs was up.

Statewide, Combs will send August local sales tax allocations totaling $632.1 million to cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts. August sales tax allocations are up 4.2 percent compared to August 2011.

“Business spending in the oil and natural gas industry and other sectors continues to be robust,” Combs said. “That spending, along with increases in consumer sectors such as retail trade, continues to boost sales tax collections. State sales tax revenue has now increased for 28 consecutive months.”

August sales tax allocations represent monthly sales made in June.
