Brown County Commissioners met Monday, November 23.  Commissioners briefly discussed the status of the Burn Ban and decided that it will remain in effect as dry conditions continue.

Commissioners also approved issuance and sale of tax notes and general obligation refunding bonds.  The Tax Note, Series 2020, is for $2,045,000 and will be used to pay for previously approved infrastructure improvements to the county communication system for law enforcement and fire departments.  Funds are expected to be delivered to the county December 22.

General Obligation Refunding Bonds, Series 2020 and 2020A, refinances previous debt at reduced interest rates.  This will allow the county to save $484,000 over the next 10 years.

In other action taken:

  • Commissioners approved awarding a bid to City Telephone for an inmate phone system.  It is a 4-year contract.
  • Commissioners approved a list of non-working and working surplus equipment to be sold on govdeals.com or disposed of.
  • Commissioners approved a request by Elections Administrator, Larry Franks, for he and office personnel to attend various required training which take place out of state.
  • Commissioners approved County Holidays for 2021.  They include New Years, MLK Day, President’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day and two days for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
  • Ann Kroupon, County Treasurer, presented no changes to the Brown County Investment Policy for the next year.  Commissioners approved.
